Full Towers: Our Biggest and Best Cases

Big Box and Silverbox: Significant features

  • Silverbox has a left-side air intake with large funnel down to the processor fan. This is a new design that ensures proper cooling for over-3-GHz. Pentium processors. Make sure you have enough room on the left side to properly ventilate this case. Big Box is larger and heavier and has no side ventilation; it doesn't need it with its large (120mm) fans and pressurized airflow. Silverbox is a bit noisier than Big Box due to its internal air funnel, but the sound is not objectionable.
  • Big Box has an air filter and external USB and audio ports at the bottom front. Silverbox has top-mounted USB and audio ports, and a side window through which you'll see the LED fans glowing and a side air intake.
  • Big Box is available in either black or beige. Silverbox's color lends itself to either black or beige components.
  • Both cases are (relatively) tool-less. Even though their design makes it easy to pop drives in and out, we prefer to add mounting screws to the DVD and CD drives in Silverbox because we find the default mounting scheme a bit flimsy.
  • Both cases have hinged access doors that swing to the left. If you have the computer in an enclosure, you'll need to pull it out for full access to the left side.
  • Both cases are rather beefy. Silverbox ships at 22 pounds; Big Box is 34 pounds. Yes, we can deliver computers built into these cases, as long as our back holds out.
