Remote Access

We are pleased to offer personal computer support via the Internet.

No matter where you are, if you can reach the Internet, we can reach you. With remote access we can run your computer as if we were sitting at its keyboard.

You let us share your Windows desktop, files, and programs, and we'll diagnose, troubleshoot and hopefully resolve the incident using a variety of tools, including an online chat window, remote viewing and control, remote diagnostics, and file transfer. You participate in the process -- together we discuss problem areas and their solutions, either by phone or in a chat window. We both have access to the keyboard and the mouse.

Remote support can be more efficient than a house call or office visit. It's easy to get started, it does not add files to or affect your computer in any way, and the results are immediate and often dramatic.

Here's how it works:

  1. Get in touch with us via the Contact Form below or by phone:

  2. We'll arrange a support appointment at a mutually convenient time.
  3. We'll collect some relevant information from you, including:
    • the nature of the problem,
    • your version of Windows,
    • your external IP (Internet Protocol) address,
      (If you don't know your IP address, obtain it here:

    • and of course your credit card number.
  4. You'll download a program module from us that enables us to get into your computer and start a session. You'll be able to see what we're doing, and we can communicate in a chat window if you are connecting to the Internet by phone.
  5. At the end of the session we'll disconnect. Except for your end of the remote control software, there will be no traces of the remote session left on your computer, except for applications software or program patches which we transfer to you with your permission. Once our remote control software is closed, there is no way for us -- or anyone -- to gain access to your computer without your knowledge. You can easily uninstall the software, if you wish.

It's easy to use, it's secure, it's fast, and you are in charge.

Easy: Our support software is firewall friendly -- you won't have to fiddle with settings in your router or your security software to make it work. First-time installation is easy with our onscreen instructions. We'll even talk you through the installation, if you wish, without charge. Once the software is installed, a couple of mouse clicks gets the session started . . . then just sit back, relax, and watch us work on your computer.

Secure: The remote session cannot start until both ends agree on a randomly generated 12-digit code. You grant permission for us to access your PC. We cannot start a remote session if you're not present. There's no way anyone can snoop; it's a secure session. Everything transmitted is encoded using a 128-bit encryption algorithm.

Fast: Once the session begins, all data packets travel point-to-point, without passing through an intermediate server (unlike many remote support programs). Speed is good even over a dial-up connection.

You're in charge: You maintain full control of the session. Your keyboard and mouse work at all times, and you can disconnect at any time. You can watch us work or take over whenever you wish.

3. Download our support software here, taking care to download just the program that we specify. For most clients we are currently using program #2: Landmark Support Software-cl.

When asked whether you want to Run or Save the program, select Run (some versions of Windows use Open instead of Run). If you get a Security Warning like the one pictured below, that's normal. Select Run.
