Nero Burning ROM problems Nero Burning ROM problems

It may be that I just don't know how to use the software correctly, or maybe I am using the wrong disks in the wrong drives? I have tried using the Nero Burning ROM Wizard on both the CD-RW and the regular CD. Neither will give me any files I can use.

Actually, Nero is only for CD-Rs, not CD-RWs. (You can use CD-RWs, but results are not guaranteed.) You must format CD-RWs once, then you can use them like floppies, without Nero or any other program. To format them, right-click on InCD (in the lower right-hand corner--the System Tray). See the attached cheat sheet.

With the CD-RW I selected "create a hard disk back-up". You apparently need multiple disks for that, because it keeps asking me if it's okay to clear the current disk, which was brand new the first time. Then it asks me insert an empty disk after a period of time.

Don't use Nero for hard disk backup. We recommend NTI Drive Backup for a good total hard disk backup to CD-Rs.

With the other CDs using the Nero Wizard, I selected "My Documents" from the "drag and drop" and ran the program, but can't access any of the files that turned up on the disk, and none of them had any names I recognize.

Okay, now THAT should have worked. Put in a CD-R, run Nero, tell it you want to create a "data CD", drag-and-drop "My Documents" into the browser Window, and hit the Burn button. It should write all your files onto the CD.
